Generative engine optimization that makes your business the answer AI gives.

More buyers now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot, or Google's AI Overviews who to hire instead of scrolling a page of links. Generative engine optimization is the work of making your business the one those systems understand, trust, and name out loud. It is a young discipline, and we run it like one.

Generative engines write the answer. The job is to be inside it.

When someone asks an assistant which contractor to call, the model does not hand back a list of links. It pulls from its index and a few live sources, writes one answer, and names a small number of businesses inside it. Getting named is a different problem from ranking, and it turns on whether machines can read your business clearly enough to repeat it.

STEP 01

Baseline what AI says now

We run the questions your buyers actually ask — service plus city, cost questions, comparison questions — through ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot, and Google AI Overviews, and record what comes back. Often the answer names a directory, a national brand, or nobody local at all. That is the starting line.

STEP 02

Clean up the entity record

These systems assemble an understanding of your business from many sources at once. When your name, services, service area, and contact details disagree across those sources, the model hedges or leaves you out. We make the record consistent and machine-readable before anything else, because nothing downstream works until it is.

STEP 03

Build the material worth citing

Then we write and restructure the pages a model can quote: the direct answer near the top, clear headings, specifics instead of adjectives, and clusters of related pages that show you cover a subject rather than mention it. Structured data tells the parser what each part of the page actually is.

ONGOING

Re-check and adjust

Generative answers are not stable. They move with the model, the wording of the prompt, and the day. We re-run a fixed prompt set on a schedule, watch what shifts, and adjust the source material. Anyone selling you a locked position in an AI answer is describing something that does not exist.

What generative engine optimization includes.

GEO is not a channel bolted onto the side of your site. It is a set of changes to how your business is described, structured, and referenced, so a model reading it can repeat you correctly. Six areas of work, run as one program.

01

AI Overviews & ChatGPT visibility

Pages structured so generative engines can understand your services, your service area, and your expertise — then cite you by name when someone asks. In practice that means answering the question in the first two sentences, keeping paragraphs short enough to lift whole, and cutting the throat-clearing a model skips over. This sits on top of ordinary search engine optimization, not instead of it.

  • Question-first page structure
  • Passages written to be extracted
  • Prompt-set visibility checks
  • Work aimed at ChatGPT, Perplexity & Copilot
02

Entity recognition

Consistent, machine-readable business data across the sources AI systems lean on, so a model knows who you are, what you do, and where you do it. Entity clarity is the least interesting part of this work and often the part that decides whether you show up at all. It overlaps heavily with our local SEO work.

  • Organization & LocalBusiness schema
  • Name, address & service-area consistency
  • Profile and listing alignment
  • Separation from similarly named businesses
03

Topic clusters

Content clustered around your core services, so a model sees depth instead of one thin page. A cluster is a hub page plus the specific questions that surround it, linked deliberately, each page answering something a real buyer asks rather than something a keyword tool suggested.

  • A hub page per service line
  • Supporting pages per buyer question
  • Deliberate internal linking
  • Gaps mapped against real queries
04

Citation building

Presence on the third-party sources generative models draw from — trade directories, local press, association listings, and review platforms. What other sites say about you tends to count for more than what you say about yourself.

  • Industry and trade listings
  • Local and regional coverage
  • Review platform presence
  • Identical details on every citation
05

Consistent data for AI indexing

Name, services, hours, and location aligned everywhere they appear, so AI answers about you stay accurate. Wrong information inside a generated answer is worse than no information, because the buyer has no list of alternatives to check it against. We wire the checks into the same reporting as our tracking and analytics work.

  • One source-of-truth business record
  • Structured data across page templates
  • Stale listings found and corrected
  • Profiles and feeds kept current
06

Future-proofing

Generative search is still moving. We keep your content prepared for how it behaves now and adjust as it changes — crawler access decisions for AI agents, and a structure that survives the next interface change. The SEO, AEO and GEO hub explains how the three disciplines fit together.

  • AI crawler access decisions
  • Structure that survives redesigns
  • Prompt-set monitoring
  • Standing review of what changed

How we run it, and what we will not claim.

01

We will tell you when GEO is not your constraint

If your site is not indexed cleanly, your service pages are thin, or you have almost no local presence, generative visibility is not what is holding you back. Ordinary SEO and local SEO come first, because the models largely read the same web everyone else does. We would rather say that on the call than sell you the newer-sounding service.

02

Measurement here is directional, and we report it that way

There is no rank tracker for a conversation. We measure by running a fixed set of prompts on a schedule and recording whether you were named, how you were described, and which sources were cited alongside you. That tells you the direction of travel. It does not give you a position number, and any dashboard that shows one is inventing precision.

03

Featured snippets and voice search are a separate job

Optimizing for the answer box, People Also Ask, and voice assistants is answer engine optimization — a related discipline with different targets, covered on our AEO page. The underlying content work overlaps, which is why it usually runs alongside classic search under one combined program rather than being bought on its own.

04

It is content and data work, not a plugin

No tool installs generative visibility. The work is writing, restructuring, correcting records, and earning references — the same unglamorous inputs that have always fed search, aimed at a reader that happens to be a model. Anything faster is either a trick with a short shelf life or a claim nobody can verify.

Who this is built for.

Generative engine optimization is worth funding when your buyers research before they commit and a single job is worth four figures or more — home improvement and renovation contractors, window, roofing and exterior trades, professional services firms, and event and venue operators across Philadelphia and the PA, NJ and DE tri-state area. Those are the decisions people now hand to an assistant instead of a search box.

It is not the right first move for everyone. If you are close to invisible in normal results, fix search engine optimization first and the generative gains tend to follow. If what you actually want is the answer box and People Also Ask coverage, that is answer engine optimization.

We will also be blunt about the state of the discipline. GEO is new, the platforms change behavior without notice, and nobody can guarantee a place in an answer that is generated fresh every time it is asked. What can be done is make your business legible to these systems, earn the references they draw on, measure it honestly, and fold it into the wider SEO, AEO and GEO program. Common questions.

Is GEO real or a buzzword?

The behavior shift is real: AI assistants now answer a meaningful share of "who should I hire" questions. The work is concrete — structured data, entity consistency, citation-worthy content — not magic.

How do you measure it?

AI visibility scoring: mentions, cited pages, and share of AI answers for your target questions, tracked monthly.

Do I need SEO and AEO first?

They share a foundation — a technically broken, low-authority site won't get cited either. We run SEO, AEO, and GEO as one program.

Free strategy call

What does ChatGPT say about your business right now?

We check it live on the free call, using the prompts your buyers would actually use. If it names a competitor, or nobody at all, at least you will know. You keep the findings either way.
